How to get started

If you’re new to RedM, it can seem like a lot, but don’t worry, we’re here to help!

Our short and straightforward guide will walk you through taking the first steps towards learning how to Roleplay.

You will need:

  • A copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 – The online version works
  • Steam

Download RedM

To initiate the download, select the button situated on the right-hand side.

The process of downloading RedM is typically swift, while the subsequent installation may require up to 24 hours. To optimize your installation experience, we suggest commencing the process before leaving you PC for a few hours.

It is important to note that RedM necessitates the presence of Steam for seamless operation, irrespective of the source from which you acquired your copy of Red Dead Redemption 2.

RedM is a modification software for Red Dead Redemption Online, which allows anyone to play on a customized dedicated server, powered by Cfx.re.

“Building upon years of development on the Cfx.re framework, which has existed in various forms since 2014, RedM is the original community-driven and source-available RDR 2 multiplayer modification project.”

Join the New Dakota Discord Server

Prior to joining the server, we kindly request all new members to thoroughly review the Rules & Guidelines. As part of our verification process, new members must correctly answer a 10-question assessment in order to obtain the role necessary for accessing the server.

In the event that clicking the button to the right does not prompt a window to join the server, please visit our discord website for alternative access.

Link your Cfx to Discord

To establish your connection between RedM and the server, it is necessary to link your CfX (CitizenFX) and Discord accounts. Please ensure that Discord is open before launching the RedM application. Upon opening RedM, you should receive an automatic prompt to authorize access to Discord.

If this prompt does not appear, you can attempt the following steps for resolution. First, open Discord and navigate to the settings. Look for the “Authorized Apps” section, located four options down from the top. Search for “FiveM” in the list and proceed to deauthorize the app. Subsequently, close both RedM and Discord. To reestablish the connection, open Discord first and then launch RedM. This sequence should trigger a new prompt for authorizing CfX.

If the above steps still do not work, try reinstalling Discord.
